Cross-posted to other knitting blogs in the hope of breathing some life into them!!

My mum taught me to knit when I was 5, and i've dabbled with it off an on since then, but not as seriously as I have in the last six months. I have since taught myself to knit socks and baby jackets while having a lot of fun.

Socks behind here!Collapse )

I made a deal with my boyfriend, if I knit 10,000 baby hats we can have a baby! Haha. If I ever get to 10,000 we will be broke!

Baby hats galore!Collapse )

I'm a cheap knitter, so I'm always keeping an eye out for wool on sale or good discounts. In the photo of my stash, the larger blue and purple balls of wool only cost $1.99 NZD per 100gm, which is by far the cheapest, and it knits up nicely as well as the fact that it just feels good!

And finally my stash!Collapse )

So the other night, after starting in on a bottle of rum with my roommates, I started knitting my first dpn project as well as my first sock. I got the cuff, leg and turned the heel with utter perfection-happily drinking and being obnoxious about my gorgeous first sock.

Im out of rum and sober, and I dont know how to pick up the stitches on the side of the heel. Anyone care to help?

Yep, the pagan didn't burn up at the wedding at the Catholic church.

Had 3 gin and tonics and you know how catering bartenders pour, so that last one was like two. Got about an inch of sock done (Knitpicks merino, yum).

Good food and a candy buffet too.

Hello, my name is Liz and I have only recently joined "Live Journal",  I really enjoy knitting and have been doing it for over a year. I have to say that i really enjoy a few nice cold beers or a bottle of wine, working on my knitting (which is currently a patch work quilt) and watching wreastling its almoust become a Monday night must. I have only once drunkenly gone horribly wrong with my knitting and spilling something down it, but part from that it been okay. (crosses fingers)

Evidence that drinking and crocheting are just as bad a combination as drinking and knitting.

» Hi. I'm not drunk at all.
I love beer.
I love knitting.
Most of all, I love drinking beer And knitting.

I consumed 3 pints of guinness while working on a little spiral rib hat for one of my kid friends. It turned out lovely-ly, and the bartender said :

1. I was a good woman
2. He wants one just like it, but in dark green

Can do, Mr Bartender!
You've got to keep those guys happy.
» intro post
ok, so I found this community today and was so inspired . . . that I am almost finished with a project I haven't worked on since February. It's a skull and crossbones felt bag. :)

so here's the scene:

hubby came home from his bike race a little early, so he took our twin boys (13 months-old) for a walk to the ice cream shoppe. the dogs are being conveniently and suspiciously quiet. I have the radio on (I have no clue where the CDs are, we just moved from AZ to CO), tuned to a nice jazz station, playing Chet Baker. Yumm. the sun breaks through the trees outside and filters in pleasantly through the picture window from the front porch. I can feel the breeze coming through the front door -- it is 75 degrees outside, says the jazz dj. I sit in my recliner -- yes, feet *UP*!! I am knitting my bag and my glass of pinot noir is balancing precariously on a neighboring piece of furniture. I knit, I sip, I knit, I sip.

this is the best slice of 20-minutes of heaven I have had in the last 18 months.

I have to go now. the scene at this time is *drastically* different.
» i wish i could say i was drunk at the time....
last night after MAYBE half a glass of red wine I decided to get up from my knitting and go sit on the other couch with my fiance. somehow i managed to knock over the half-full glass of shiraz INTO MY KNITTING BAG....which held the last ball of yarn for my wedding shawl....which of course, is WHITE! (80/20 kid mohair/silk blend) :(

needless to say there were many tears and swearing as i cleaned the wine off the two couches, the carpet, and dumped it out of my bag. the sweetheart held out his arms as a makeshift shift to help me put the yarn back into a hank for a nice bath, and then remembered the actual swift in our spare bedroom and helped me set it up to complete the job

about half an hour later the yarn had been washed and hung to dry, but he couldn't handle the stress and had gone to bed before seeing the final product. i checked in on it this morning and while the bathroom was smelling rather sheepy, the yarn seems to have been saved

lesson learned: don't set the knitting bag anywhere near the glass of wine! normally it's under the table, not between the table and the couch. i'm just glad i didn't drump the wine on the 3/4 completed project or i'd have been doing a lot more than crying and swearing....
